Nook & Store Guide

When the game begins Tom Nook will have a store called Nook's Cranny. It is barely more than a shack, but he has big plans for expansion based on what you buy and sell! His stock will change on a daily basis, and he sells: medicine, tools, flower seeds, tree saplings, paint, wallpaper, carpet and flooring, an occasional painting, and furniture.

In addition to selling items, Tom Nook will also buy items for ¼ their original price. So if something sells for 400 bells in his shop, he will pay you 100 bells for it. He will also buy turnips. He will have 2 prices for turnips each day: one before noon and one after.

As you play the game and collect or buy items, Tom Nook will start your own personal mail order catalog. This catalog is made up of all the items you have ever bought, found or been given. Most of these items you can reorder. There will be some special items that are not re-orderable. Examples of these types of items are: gyroids, fossils, special furniture series such as those from Jingle or Franklin, and special items such as the throne.

Upgrades

As you play (buying and selling) Tom Nook will eventually upgrade his store. When he upgrades is based on how much you buy from him and sell back to him, as well as time. You no longer have to have someone from another town buy something in order for him to do his final upgrade. Paying your mortgage has no impact on when upgrades take place. Each of the different shops has different hours. With each upgrade, he will carry more items.

This chart shows the hours and what is necessary for each upgrade (store will not be upgraded on a holiday):

Store Total Transactions Needed Minimum Days Previous Store Must Be Open Store Hours
Nook's Cranny None Open first day 8 am - 10 pm
Nook 'n' Go 30,000 bells 8 days 7 am - 1 am
NookWay 80,00 bells 15 days 8 am - 10 pm
Nookington's 150,000 bells 22 days 9 am - 9 pm

Once you have obtained Nookington's, Nook will occasionally ask you about your preference about the store. He will ask which you prefer: variety of items, balance of items, or better hours. Depending on what you answer, he will change his store or leave it the same.

Nook's Point System

In each of Nook's stores you will find a green machine. This is "Nook's Point-Tracking System." With each item you buy you will earn points (1 point for every 100 bells spent). As you earn points, you will earn new membership ranks. These new ranks will result in you earning discounts on the items you buy. In addition, you will receive models of Nook's store.

5,000 Silver 5% Nook 'n' Go
